Sudip – Breaking Barriers. A disabled boy plays basketball with his friends in rural West Bengal, India. There is still a lot of taboo against the disabled where they are seen as weak, a burden on a family. Almost every one of them faces humiliation from their peers. Therefore many of them withdraw themselves from normal social life. Sports can be a great equalizer where disabled children can participate and also find themselves to be equal to a normal one.

Ashu Sharma (India) – The Glory to Play

Peter Nelis (Netherlands) – Sport is emotion
Ashu Sharma – Edukick Education plays a crucial part in developing the citizens of tomorrow. The poor educational outcomes result from wide gaps in education, particularly from a poor translation of educational pedagogy to practice. The importance of play and physical development has been lost in the educational institutions and even more so in underserved communities as there is an unofficial attention to didactic education. This lack of focus on sport and play has been attributed as one of the singular most important cause of poor school performance and drop-out. This has also led to the marginalization of girls in under-served communities.
EduKick (conceptualized to address the 4th Sustainable Development Goal) is an initiative by Slum Soccer which focuses on the promotion of primary education for the children from the underprivileged section of the society who don’t get a chance to attend school and also for those who attend schools but their learning achievements are very poor. Project EDU-KICK aims to improve and build upon the existing educational outcomes and to improve its efficacy. EduKick provides a fun, informative, a football – themed program that encourage children to ask questions, learn by doing and feel happy while doing so. Including sport in the mainstream curriculum through EduKick facilitate the cognitive and physical benefits that come with regular participation in sport and play through childhood.
